I get to take a good long break, usually six to nine months, and during that time I start working on the region for the next campaign. I try to mix it up, jumping around the world so my players get to have fun in completely different geographic areas and different flavors of the game. Then we roll up new characters and launch into the next campaign which might run for two or three or even four years.
This map is special because it is Map Letter Z on my master grid of regional maps. Yes, I started with map A and then expanded from there as the heroes explored, traveled, and leveled up. Map Z means I have a total of 26 of these maps completely finished, geographic locations described, monster encounters written up, treasures placed, NPC's developed and dungeons set down and ready for play. We have played in the Northern region of my campaign world for two years. We don't seem to be all that close to wrapping up yet and I hope we get another two years out of the area because honestly, I enjoy this one more than most others.
Along with writing some short and hopefully more regular blog posts, I am also getting myself out the door to get a new window's computer. Right now all I have is this Chromebook and it kind of sucks for handling a lot of important things. I plan to pick up a basic/solid windows laptop, a new printer with a good-sized scan bed, and a cool portable speaker for when I stream Syrinscape from the laptop during games.
